How to Do Your Spring Cleaning in One Day

spring-cleaning
It’s widely known that cleaning should not be saved for one time of the year — spring cleaning. Cleaning is an everyday thing, but having an extra good, in-depth one will do your home wonders. Don’t drag your spring cleaning on for the next week. Instead, plan it out and finish it all in one day.

Bathrooms
  • Wipe down all of the walls and air ducts of any dust, debris, and grime that has accumulated. Once the dusting is complete begin vacuuming
  • Clean the toilet, shower, bathtub, and sink with a cleaner, preferably one without harsh chemicals.
  • Pick up any rugs and throw them in the washing machine. Proceed to wash the floor.
  • Finish by washing all of the windows and mirrors and then drying them with a microfiber cloth.

Bedrooms
  • Gather all of the linens and bedding and throw them in the washing machine.
  • While those are washing, wipe down the walls and give the room a good dusting. Afterwards, break out the vacuum and go over the floors.
  • Clean each door and window, especially the handles on both where they are touched most frequently.
  • Finally, open up the windows and allow some fresh air to circulate throughout the room.

Kitchen
  • Empty out your refrigerator and freezer of its contents. Give the inside a good cleaning and throw away any expired food before restocking.
  • Grab a degreaser, preferably a homemade solution, and begin cleaning all of the appliances. If there are any removable parts then be sure to remove them and clean every nook and cranny.
  • Now that the appliances have been taken care of you can begin to wash down the cabinets and other surfaces. Last week’s tomato sauce doesn’t look as good as it tastes!
  • Finish the kitchen by sweeping, mopping, and cleaning the windows.

Family Room
  • Break out the duster again — are you seeing a pattern here? Always dust first! Remember to clean off ceiling fans, shelves, bookcases, etc. A post dusting vacuuming is always guaranteed afterwards.
  • With all of the use that your couches and recliners see, a proper cleaning is needed. Head to your local furniture repair store and purchase a cleaner to freshen them up.
  • Re-organize your home entertainment system so that wires are not jumbled up and everything has a simple and clean look to it.
